Finding your way around the canvas.
The canvas has no edges, which is what lets a whole house live on one surface. It also means work can sit just outside the viewport and look like it has vanished. Here is how to move around it.

Panning and zooming
To pan the RoomGen Studio canvas, drag any empty part of it. Start the drag on background rather than on a tile - dragging a tile moves that tile instead, which is covered in click, double-click and ⌘-click.
To zoom, scroll, or use the toolbar on the right-hand edge of the canvas. It has four controls: Zoom in, Reset zoom (the percentage), Zoom out, and Fit.
"My renders have disappeared"
Press Fit. It is the button below Zoom out in the toolbar, and it frames every room, render, sheet and clip in the project at once - whatever you had lost is now on screen. Shift+1 does the same thing from the keyboard.
As for why it happens: renders are placed next to the room that produced them, so as a project grows the content spreads outward. Pan a reasonable distance and everything you made is off screen, with no scrollbar to hint at which direction it went. Nothing is deleted, and nothing has moved - the viewport is simply pointed elsewhere.
The one to avoid here is the percentage readout: Reset zoom returns to 100% but does not recentre the view. Pressing it while panned away changes the scale and leaves you looking at the same empty patch, which is why it feels like it did nothing. Use it to get back to actual size once Fit has found your work.
Working at the right zoom
Different jobs want different scales, and moving between them deliberately is faster than staying at one:
- Zoomed out to see the shape of the project - which rooms exist, which ones have renders, what is still empty.
- At 100% to select tiles and apply presets, where the tooltips and controls are comfortably clickable.
- Zoomed in to judge a render, though for real inspection it is better to double-click and open it properly than to zoom the tile.
Other ways back to your work
If hunting on the canvas is not working, there are routes that skip it entirely. Moodboards is a gallery of every render across every project, so you can find an image there and open it directly. And because every render also stays attached to its room, double-clicking a room tile shows its whole gallery in one place, which is usually faster than looking for a single render tile among many.

Common questions
My renders have disappeared. Where did they go?
Almost always they are still there, just outside the viewport. The canvas is infinite, so a tile placed far from where you are looking simply is not on screen. Press Fit in the canvas toolbar, or Shift+1, and the view reframes to include everything in the project.
What does Reset zoom do?
It returns the zoom level to 100%. It does not recentre the view, so if you have panned a long way from your work, resetting zoom will not bring it back. Press Fit for that - it reframes the view around your content, which is the thing people usually want when the canvas looks empty.
How do I pan the canvas?

How do I zoom?

Why does the canvas keep growing?
Every render lands next to the room that produced it, so a project with several rooms and a few passes each spreads out. That is deliberate - it keeps the relationship between a room and its output visible - but it does mean zooming out periodically.
